Annual solar irradiation falling on a tilted south facing solar panel in Israel ranges between 1,900 KWh/Sqm in the north to 2,350 KWh/Sqm in the best locations in the south. These levels of solar irradiation compares favorably with the best locations in southern Europe. Based on these levels of solar irradiation a PV system of 1 KWp performing at 77% performance ratio should yield annually between 1,460 KWh to 1,800 KWh depending on the location. Southern Israel – the “Negev” and “Arava” regions – is especially blessed with high irradiation levels of more than 2,100 KWh (on a tilted Sqm) in most places. Moreover, the areas of the Negev and Arava amount to almost 60% of the area of Israel and are mostly undeveloped deserts, making these areas ideal for land intensive solar projects. |
